Frequently asked questions

Is my PDF uploaded to a server?
No. Your file is read and stamped entirely inside your browser using JavaScript. It never travels over the network, and nothing is stored.
Does it work on scanned PDFs?
Yes. Page numbers are stamped visually onto each page, so they work on scanned documents, image-only PDFs and regular text PDFs alike.
What if my PDF is password-protected?
Password-protected (encrypted) PDFs cannot be opened by the tool. Remove the password first — for example with a PDF unlocker — then add your page numbers.
Will it change my original file?
No. The tool creates a brand-new PDF with the numbers added and offers it as a download. Your original file stays exactly as it was.
Can I start numbering from a number other than 1?
Yes — set “Start numbering at” to any number. Useful when a document is split across several PDFs and you want continuous numbering.
Is there a page limit?
No hard limit. Stamping is fast — even 100+ page documents finish in seconds. Very large files are only limited by your device’s memory.
