Frequently asked questions
Is this duplicate line remover really free?
Yes. Remove duplicates from unlimited lines with no signup and no limits. Every option on this page is free forever.
What counts as a duplicate line?
Two lines with exactly the same text. Your options change the definition: Ignore case treats Apple and apple as the same, and Trim whitespace ignores leading and trailing spaces when comparing.
How does “Ignore case” work?
With it on, Apple, apple, and APPLE are treated as one line. The surviving line keeps its original capitalization — so the first Apple in your list stays Apple.
Should I keep the first or the last occurrence?
Keep first occurrence preserves the original order of first appearance, which is what most people want. Uncheck it to keep the last occurrence instead — useful when later entries are corrected or updated versions of earlier ones.
Does it remove blank lines?
Only if you enable Remove empty lines (it is on by default). With it off, blank lines are treated like any other line and deduplicated normally.
Is there a size limit?
No hard limit. The tool comfortably handles tens of thousands of lines instantly; pastes over 100,000 lines may take a moment since everything is processed live in your browser.
Is my list uploaded or saved anywhere?
No. Deduping happens entirely in your browser with JavaScript. Your text never leaves your device and nothing is stored or logged.
Can I sort the deduplicated list?
Yes. Turn on Sort output A–Z to alphabetize the cleaned list. Sorting is case-insensitive, so apple comes before Banana, matching spreadsheet behavior.
