How to use the Audio Volume Booster

  1. 1Upload your quiet audio

Drag and drop an MP3, WAV, OGG, M4A, or AAC file into the box above, or click it to browse. The file is decoded locally — nothing leaves your device.

  2. 2Set your boost

Drag the gain slider (1x–5x) and watch the boosted waveform update live. Or check “Peak normalize” to auto-boost the loudest moment to exactly 0 dB in one click.

  3. 3Preview and download

Hit Play preview to hear the result, then download it as a 16-bit WAV — lossless quality you can edit, share, or upload anywhere.

Why boost audio with this tool

Live waveform preview

See the original and boosted waveforms side by side as you move the slider — you know exactly what the gain is doing before you download.

One-click peak normalization

Instead of guessing a gain value, normalize automatically: the tool computes the exact gain that brings the loudest peak to 0 dB.

Clipping detection and limiter

The tool counts samples that would exceed 0 dB and warns you. The soft-clip limiter rounds peaks smoothly so loud sections stay clean.

Lossless WAV download

The boosted file is exported as 16-bit PCM WAV written sample-by-sample in your browser — no re-encoding losses, no quality tricks.

Honest level meters

Duration, sample rate, original peak dB, and new peak dB are shown for every file, so you can verify the boost numerically.

Works fully offline

After the page loads, everything — decoding, processing, waveform drawing, WAV export — runs locally with zero server contact.

Audio Volume Booster FAQs

How much louder can I make my audio?
You can multiply the volume up to 5x (about +14 dB). In practice, the useful limit is how much background noise the recording has — boosting also boosts hiss and room noise, so for very quiet recordings the peak-normalize option gives you the cleanest possible maximum.
What does “peak normalize to 0 dB” mean?
0 dBFS (decibels relative to full scale) is the loudest level a digital audio file can hold without distortion. Normalizing measures your file’s current loudest peak and applies exactly the gain needed to bring it to 0 dB — the maximum clean level.
Will boosting cause distortion or clipping?
Only if samples are pushed past 0 dB. This tool warns you when that happens and counts the clipped samples. Leave the soft-clip limiter on and peaks are rounded smoothly instead of cut off harshly, which keeps the sound clean.
Why does the download come as WAV, not MP3?
WAV is lossless, so the boosted audio is bit-exact — no extra compression artifacts on top of the boost. Browsers cannot encode MP3 natively, so WAV gives you the highest possible quality. You can convert it to MP3 afterward with any converter.
Is my audio uploaded anywhere?
No. The file is decoded with your browser’s built-in Web Audio decoder and processed entirely on your device. We never see, store, or transmit your audio.
Can I boost stereo files?
Yes. All channels are boosted by the same gain so the stereo image stays exactly as it was, and the WAV export preserves every channel.
Why does boosting also make background noise louder?
Gain is applied to everything in the recording equally — voice and noise alike. If the original is noisy, record closer to the microphone next time, or use a noise-reduction pass before boosting.
