Hide Secret Text in an Image — Invisible Messages, Free

Tuck a secret message inside a PNG with real LSB steganography — invisible to the human eye, recoverable only with this tool. Everything runs in your browser; nothing is ever uploaded.

1. Hide a message in an image

Pick any carrier image, type your secret, and download the PNG. The message hides in invisible pixel bits — the picture looks exactly the same.

🕵

Drop a carrier image here or click to browse

PNG, JPG, or WebP · exported as PNG · processed locally · nothing uploads

Load an image above to see its capacity.

Tip: share the downloaded PNG file itself. Screenshots, MMS, and social-media uploads re-compress the image and wipe the hidden text.

2. Reveal a hidden message

Drop a PNG that was encoded with this tool to read the secret text back out.

How to hide text in an image

  1. 1Choose a carrier image

Drop any photo — PNG, JPG, or WebP. Bigger images hold more text; the meter shows the exact capacity in bytes.

  2. 2Type your secret message

Write the text and watch the capacity meter. If the message is too long, the tool says so and refuses — it never corrupts your image.

  3. 3Download the PNG

One click hides the text in the image’s pixel data and downloads a normal-looking PNG. Share that exact file.

  4. 4Reveal it later

Drop the PNG into the decoder below — on this page, on any device — and the secret text comes back out.

Why hide text with this tool

Real LSB steganography

Your message is woven into the least significant bits of the pixels — the standard technique from CTF competitions and security classrooms.

Live capacity meter

See exactly how many bytes fit before you encode: 3 bits per pixel minus a tiny header, computed from your image’s real size.

Smart overflow guard

Text that will not fit is rejected with a clear “too long” message instead of silently breaking the image or the message.

Alpha-safe encoding

Only the red, green, and blue channels carry data — transparency and the visible picture are left untouched.

Lossless PNG export

The encoded image always downloads as PNG, the one common format that preserves every hidden bit perfectly.

Zero footprint

No accounts, no uploads, no server logs. Once the page loads it even works offline.

Hide Text in Image FAQs

What is steganography?
Steganography is the practice of hiding a message inside an ordinary-looking file. This tool uses LSB (least significant bit) steganography: it replaces the tiniest, invisible bit of each pixel’s color with one bit of your message.
Can anyone see the hidden text by looking at the image?
No. Changing the last bit of a color value shifts it by 1 out of 255 — far below what the human eye can detect. The encoded image looks pixel-identical to the original.
Which image formats work?
Any common image works as the carrier input, but the encoded file must be PNG — it is lossless, so every hidden bit survives. Never re-save the encoded image as JPG: JPEG compression destroys the hidden data.
How much text can I hide?
Capacity is 3 bits per pixel minus an 8-byte header. A 1920 × 1080 photo holds roughly 760 KB of text — about 380 pages of a novel.
Is this encryption? Is my message truly secure?
No — this is concealment, not encryption. Anyone who suspects a hidden message and knows the technique can extract it. For real secrecy, encrypt your text first (try the AES Text Encrypt tool below) and then hide the ciphertext.
Will the hidden message survive social media, screenshots, or MMS?
No. Any re-compression, resizing, or screenshotting rewrites the pixels and wipes the message. Always share the downloaded PNG file itself.
Is my image or message uploaded anywhere?
No. The encoding and decoding both happen in JavaScript inside your browser tab. Nothing leaves your device.
