How to use the random team generator
- 1Paste your names
Drop in your list with one name per line — a class roster, a squad, a party guest list. Try the sample names button if you just want to see how it works.
- 2Choose your split method
Pick "Number of teams" (for example, 2 teams) or "Team size" (for example, 4 players per team). The tool calculates the other side automatically.
- 3Generate and re-shuffle
Hit Generate teams to see the draw with a shuffle animation. Not happy with the result? Re-shuffle gives you a fresh split — never the exact same one twice in a row.
- 4Copy your teams
Copy a single team with its own button, or grab the whole draw with Copy all teams. Paste it straight into chat, email, or your game plan.
Features
Names are mixed with the Fisher-Yates algorithm, the same unbiased shuffle used in card games and statistics — every possible split is equally likely.
11 players into 3 teams becomes 4 + 4 + 3, not 5 + 5 + 1. The remainder is always spread evenly so no team is unfairly big or small.
The generator remembers your last draw and keeps shuffling until the new split is different — re-shuffling always gives you a genuinely fresh result.
Set the number of teams ("make 3 teams") or the players per team ("teams of 5"). Both modes keep the sizes balanced automatically.
Copy any single team or the full draw as plain text. It pastes cleanly into group chats, emails, and spreadsheets.
Everything runs on your device. Your class lists, rosters, and names never leave your browser.
