Features
True client-side GIF encoding
A real GIF89a encoder with LZW compression runs in JavaScript right on the page. No server, no queue, and it keeps working after the page loads.
Clip any segment
Set start and end times to the half second and loop-preview the selection before you commit to the conversion.
Size controls that matter
Width from 240 to 480 px, 5 to 15 frames per second, and High, Medium, or Low color quality so you control exactly how big the file gets.
Looping output
Every GIF is encoded to loop forever, which is what Discord, Slack, and social apps expect.
No watermark, no signup
Your GIF downloads clean with nothing stamped on it, and you never create an account.
Works on mobile
Convert clips in mobile Chrome or Safari. Keep clips short on phones, where encoding is slower.
Frequently asked questions
Is the video to GIF converter really free?
Yes. It is completely free with no signup, no watermarks, and no limits on how many GIFs you make.
Are my videos uploaded anywhere?
No. Your video is read and converted entirely inside your browser, so it never leaves your device.
Which video formats can I convert?
MP4, WebM, and MOV work in modern browsers. If your browser can play the file, it can convert it.
Why is the clip limited to 10 seconds?
GIF files get very large very fast, and encoding runs on your device rather than a server. The 10-second, 150-frame cap keeps every conversion finishing in seconds instead of minutes.
Why is my GIF file so large?
Lower the frame rate to 5 or 10 fps, drop the width to 240 or 320 px, or switch quality to Medium. Each of those roughly halves the file size.
Why do the colors look slightly flat?
The GIF format supports a maximum of 256 colors per frame. High quality uses error-diffusion dithering to make gradients look smoother; Medium and Low trade color detail for smaller files.
Where can I use the GIF?
Anywhere GIFs work: Discord, Slack, WhatsApp, iMessage, X, Reddit, forums, and blog posts. The output loops forever by default.
Does it work on iPhone?
Yes, in Safari and Chrome on iOS. Conversion is slower on phones, so keep clips short and use 240 or 320 px width for the fastest results.
