Frequently asked questions

What Markdown syntax does this converter support?
ATX headings (# through ######), bold (**text**) and italic (*text*) including nested emphasis, unordered and ordered lists, fenced code blocks with language classes, inline code, links, images, blockquotes, horizontal rules, and GitHub-style tables with alignment.
Is my Markdown uploaded to a server?
No. The parser is hand-written JavaScript that runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you type ever leaves this page.
Does it load any external libraries?
No. There are no CDN scripts or external requests at all. The Markdown parser is written from scratch in vanilla JavaScript, which also means it works offline once the page loads.
How do I use the output in WordPress?
Click Copy HTML, then paste it into a WordPress Custom HTML block. The markup is clean with no inline styles, so it inherits your theme’s typography automatically.
What does the downloaded .html file contain?
A complete standalone HTML page: doctype, head with charset and viewport meta tags, basic readable styling, and your converted content in the body. Open it in any browser or upload it to any host.
Why does my code sample show as text instead of running?
That is intentional and correct. Code blocks and inline code are HTML-escaped (angle brackets become entities), so sample markup displays literally instead of being interpreted by the browser.
Can I convert HTML back to Markdown here?
Not with this tool; it converts one way, Markdown to HTML. If you need the reverse direction, an HTML-to-Markdown converter is on the roadmap for the Developer Tools category.
