Cups to Grams Converter — Cooking Measurements by Ingredient

Convert cups to grams, ounces, tablespoons, teaspoons and milliliters for 50+ ingredients — flour, sugar, butter, honey, milk and more — with density-accurate results built for US recipes. Works in both directions.

Convert your measurement

Everything recalculates live as you type. Pick the right ingredient — a cup of flour weighs far less than a cup of honey.

125 grams
1 US cup of All-purpose flour = 125 g
About accuracy: Densities are typical US values. Dry ingredients vary by brand and by how packed they are — for flour, spoon it into the cup and level it off rather than scooping from the bag. If you have measured your own density, choose the custom option above and enter your grams per cup.

How to use the cooking measurement converter

Frequently asked questions

Why do I have to pick an ingredient?
A cup is a measure of volume, not weight. One US cup of all-purpose flour weighs 125 grams, but one cup of honey weighs 340 grams — nearly three times as much. Without knowing the ingredient, any cups-to-grams number is just a guess.
How many grams are in a cup of all-purpose flour?
125 grams is the widely used US standard, and that is the value this converter uses. Some brands differ — King Arthur lists 120 g per cup and Gold Medal lists 130 g — which is why the custom density option exists if you want to match your bag exactly.
How big is a US cup in milliliters?
One US legal cup is 236.588 ml. Note that this is different from a metric cup (250 ml), which is common in Australian and some European recipes. This converter uses US cups throughout.
Can I convert grams back to cups?
Yes. Choose grams (or ounces) as the “from” unit and cups as the “to” unit. This is handy when a recipe lists metric weights and you only have measuring cups.
Are ounces weight or volume here?
Both are supported separately. “Ounces (oz, weight)” is avoirdupois weight — 28.35 grams. “Fluid ounces (fl oz)” is volume — 29.57 ml. Pick the one your recipe means.
Why does my flour conversion look off compared to my bag?
Flour density changes with brand, type, humidity, and how packed it is — scooping straight from the bag can pack in 20% more than spooning it in and leveling it off. For baking, a kitchen scale is always the most accurate option.
Is my data sent anywhere?
No. The converter runs entirely in your browser, so your recipes and measurements never leave your device.
