Frequently asked questions

Are my photos uploaded to a server?
No. The file is read into your browser’s memory and drawn on an HTML canvas. Cropping, rotating, and exporting all run locally in JavaScript — your photos never leave your device, and the tool keeps working even if you go offline after the page loads.
Which image formats are supported?
You can upload JPG (JPEG), PNG, and WebP files. You can download the cropped result as PNG (lossless) or JPG (smaller file, adjustable quality).
Is there a file size limit?
Files up to 25 MB are accepted. Because everything runs in your browser’s memory, very large photos (for example, 50+ megapixel panoramas) may be slow on older phones — for typical phone and camera photos it is instant.
Will cropping reduce my image quality?
The cropped area keeps its original pixels — no resampling happens when you crop. If you download as PNG, the result is pixel-perfect. If you download as JPG, the crop is re-encoded once at the quality you choose (92 by default), which is visually identical to the original for most photos.
How do the aspect-ratio presets work?
Picking a preset (for example, 9:16 for TikTok) locks the crop box to that width-to-height ratio. Dragging any handle then resizes the box while keeping the ratio exact, so your export matches the platform’s recommended shape.
Can I rotate or flip my photo before cropping?
Yes. Rotate turns the photo 90 degrees clockwise each click (click four times for a full turn), and Flip mirrors it horizontally. The crop box resets to the full photo after each transform so you can re-select.
Can I crop to an exact pixel size?
The readout under the preview shows the live crop size in pixels (for example, 1080 × 1350). Zoom in for fine control and drag a handle until the readout shows the size you want, then download.
Does the cropper work on my phone?
Yes. The crop box supports touch: drag with one finger to move it or pull a handle to resize. The layout is responsive, so the toolbar wraps neatly on small screens.
