How to add a watermark to a photo

  1. 1Upload your photo

Drag and drop a JPG, PNG, or WebP onto the upload box, or click it to browse your files. A live preview appears instantly.

  2. 2Choose text or logo

Type your watermark text (your name, brand, or website), or switch to the Logo tab and upload a PNG logo — transparent backgrounds work best.

  3. 3Style and place it

Adjust font size, color, opacity, and rotation for text; size and opacity for logos. Click any of the 9 grid positions, or turn on tiling to repeat the mark across the whole photo.

  4. 4Download your photo

Every change updates the live preview. When it looks right, download as PNG for full quality or JPG for a smaller file.

Why photographers use this watermark tool

Text or logo watermarks

Stamp a name, copyright line, or URL as text — or overlay your actual logo image with transparency preserved.

9-position placement plus tiling

One click puts the mark in any corner, edge, or the center. Tiling repeats it diagonally across the entire photo for maximum protection.

Full style control

Font size, color, opacity, and rotation for text; size and opacity for logos — fine-tune until the mark protects without ruining the shot.

Live canvas preview

See exactly what the final image looks like as you drag each slider. What you see is what downloads.

PNG or JPG download

PNG keeps every pixel perfect; JPG re-encodes at high quality for easy sharing and smaller uploads.

Private by design

Your photos are processed locally with canvas compositing — they never touch a server, so client work stays confidential.

Watermark FAQs

Is my photo uploaded to a server?
No. The entire tool runs in your browser using canvas compositing. Your photo is read locally, watermarked locally, and downloaded locally — it never uploads anywhere, which makes it safe for client work and personal photos.
Which image formats can I upload?
JPG, PNG, and WebP. You can download the watermarked result as PNG (lossless, keeps transparency) or JPG (smaller file, great for sharing online).
Should I use a text or a logo watermark?
Text works well for a name, copyright notice (like © 2026 Your Name), or website URL and needs no extra files. A logo looks more professional for brands — upload a PNG with a transparent background for the cleanest result.
Can I tile the watermark across the whole photo?
Yes. Turn on “Tile across the whole photo” in the text options and the mark repeats diagonally across the image at your chosen size, opacity, and rotation — the classic stock-photo style protection.
Will watermarking reduce my photo quality?
PNG downloads are pixel-perfect. JPG downloads re-encode at 92% quality, which is visually identical for photos while keeping the file small. The original photo on your device is never modified.
Can I rotate or reposition the watermark?
Yes. Text watermarks rotate from -45° to +45° and snap to any of 9 positions (corners, edges, center) via the position grid. Logo watermarks use the same 9-position grid.
What size and opacity should I use?
A good starting point is 40–60% opacity with a medium size in a corner — visible enough to deter theft but subtle enough not to distract. For stronger protection, use tiling at lower opacity so the photo still shows through.
Is there a limit on photo size or number of photos?
No limits. Large photos may take a moment to render, but the tool handles full-resolution camera images and you can watermark as many as you like, free.
